Hi all, Is there an easy way to hook up my PC headphones and mic to an X-Box 360? I've just been given an X-Box - I don't have any speakers as I'm in shared accomodation so instead have got a really good set of headphones (Sennheiser PC-350s). I don't want 2 headsets, so want to hook up the headset to the 360 - question is how and with what? I'm sure this has cropped up before so any help would be much appreciated.
A phono to 3.5mm female adapter should (depending on how the Xbox is connected to your TV) get you sound, but you'll need to get the Modern Warfare throat mic if you want a microphone. Or, try out one of these adapters.
Cheers. The first adapter will leave me with 2 lots of male phono plugs though - one on the end of the headphones and one coming out of the X-Box. I haven't got as far as connecting it to the monitor yet, but will probably go with a standard VGA adapter. That second adapter looks pretty good - anyone used one?
Ah, I figured you'd be using this sound adapter. Just grab one of these Phono female to female (you only need a dual one though, obviously. eBay's a great place to get little adapters like this. I'd be wary of the plugging headphones and mic into the controller adapter though. I have a feeling the output will only be mono and I'm not too sure you can route game sounds through the headset anyway (I think it's only voice communications you can get).
USB headsets work as well (at least some do) but that might not be any help if you already have a headset
Thanks to all for your help. I've ordered the various bits off Amazon, so should be up and running soon (and able to finally contribute to the PC vs console debate).
http://www.steelseries.com/int/products/accessories/xbox_360_headset_connector/information Shame you already ordered stuff though. That is the perfect all in one solution. It has a cable to hook into the TVs headphone socket, so you get the headset and game sound in your ears.
