Well as the title suggests I was wondering If anybody knows how to unstick thermal glue, you know the thermalpaste that glues aswell. My motherboard's chipset came wiht a heatsink glued to the chip but I need to remove this, any ideas?
Put it inside a sealed freezer bag and then stick it in your freezer for a while. Take it out and use a screwdriver to pop it off. It should come straight off. Although I've never tried this and wouldnt have the guts to do it either, but other people do it and say it works fine.
Also use a credit card (or other plastic card) to protect what ever you are prying against. Most thermal glues just crack right off when cold. Just take it slow and don't use excessive force.
bad idea tried to take the hs off my old P60 that was thermal glued on... had to use a screwdriver-- but the amount of force required was phenomenal.. i say just leave it there lol
What about taking some canned air, turning it upside down and spraying the heatsink to freeze it that way? Would be quicker than a freezer and wouldn't have to worry as much about condensation.
Cheers thanx for the advice, and If I do not post for a little while its caus I am saving to buy a new mobo.
