Hello. I built a pc for a lady friend. I installed and registered Windows 7 pro for her in my name. I took it to her house and set up a user account of her own for her to use. That was a few months ago, and everything was fine. So, when she presses the pc on/off, she gets the normal Windows 7 start page, with her name and my name on it. If she clicks her name, she has to enter her password to get into her windows, as you do. Yesterday, she clicked her name, and was told she had to change her password. She tried her old password but it did not work. She made a new password up and it worked and she got into her windows ok. Is this normal? Does a second account user have to change there password after a few month I thank you.
It wouldn't require a password change unless it had been specifically set up that way. By default passwords are indefinite on all versions of W7. Odd.
Odd it would be on by default. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/73210-password-expiration-enable-disable.html
"By default passwords are indefinite " Thats what i thought. I cant get to her pc till the weekend, so ill look at it then. I just set things up for her as normal, and did'nt change anything Mind you, changing your password now and again is not a bad thing
it depents on what websites she visits, if the account she uses is a admin account, she could have installed by accident a virus, that tells you to change your PW, (if she changed it, a hacker could get into her pc) but if its a normal account this could also happen, but then its by malware, try running the pc in safe modus, with a usb stick where hitman pro 3 is installed on, then check for malware http://www.surfright.nl/nl/home/ ---------- or if she is lucky it could have only been the problem mrbungle said --------------- it is always smart to scan for malware with hitman pro ________________ "why hitman pro, it is a higly rated anti-malware program by many pc magazines."
