Sometimes, I am unable to add files to iTunes. I normally drag them over into iTunes and they get added but I've noticed that sometimes it just ignores it. I even try adding it through the File menu and it does the same thing.

I checked and I don't see a problem with anything in particular and I don't think the files are different to the vast majority that don't have a problem.

Anyone have any ideas what's wrong?

    [EDIT]
    - Windows XP SP2
    - Files are MP3
    - Using latest version of iTunes [v7.1] but have had the same problem with older versions

For some reason when I saw this I could imagen you trying to drag files across saying

"It loads the files into the library or else it gets the hose again."

The files are MP3s and I'm using v7.1 but have had the same problem on older versions of iTunes.

I've checked the permissions and as far as I can see, there's nothing wrong.

You're not dragging them with a playlist window open, like trying to drag them into a playlist?Because ive done that thinking why the hell isnt it there then realised what I'd done.

Make sure they dropped into the libary tab, or window.
