PowerPC and Motorola 68000. I'm telling you, 2018 is the year of Workbench on the desktop (again!)

<pulls the A1200 out of mothballs and hooks in the PCMCIA network card>

But what can you do with those in 2018? At least with a Pentium you can run a modern 32bit linux and might even run some of the binaries without recompiling.

As for pre-Pentium Pro CPUs, wasn't the K6 out-of-order too?

If it's an A1200 then it'll be a 68020EC, not a 68000 ;) But actually, it'll be a 68030 or whatever it is you have in your trapdoor expansion card, won't it? :D

I was using Workbench the other day on WinUAE and it was all sorts of weird after nearly twenty years of day-in, day-out Windows use. That said, I've got a sweet emulator setup now with more WHDLoad games than I can shake a stick at, so I don't spend a huge amount of time on Workbench itself.

Edit: added in Gareth's quote to avoid confusion :D

68000 family, my friend, 68000 family.
Aye, 68030 at 50MHz with speed-matched FPU, 32MB of RAM, but sadly not the optional SCSI board - I have to remove the PCMCIA network card and shove a Squirrel SCSI card in when I want to use my CD-ROM.

    Bloody lovely thing.
Browse the web? Edit images? Write articles? I could probably do 90% of what I do now on an Amiga 1200, if my editors would only see the sense in accepting IFF files...

I know, just fancied being unnecessarily pedantic, hence the safety wink :D

I have a nice 68030 expansion board in my mothballed A1200. Can't quite remember the specs, though. Really must dig the A1200 out and make sure it's not suffered terminal battery-leakage damage.

Workbench 3.1, 'cos it's already installed. I've got a newer AmigaOS CD around here somewhere, but never got around to installing it...

I've got an Asus EeePC 901 working as a galera arbitrator for a MariaDB cluster for some friends' companies' e-mail servers (It's all I had at hand, they only had two nodes). Guess who's running secure hardware now, beagles!

Well that sucks. Really need to get the SSD replacement into the desktop and do a fresh install of Windows 10 and hope it doesn't go super slow even more than it is (due to only available drive being an older one until getting SSD and not having t he time for a reinstall since).

Hopefully it'll be worked around eventually.
