Cooling New system - DD MAZE3 blocks - help pls :)

ok fed up with noise and heat and everything else, air = bad blah blah blah we all know the story

planning on going for a MAZE3 water block and their gf3 block.
just a little confused by the MAZE3-1 version, is this just for use with peltiers or can it be used without aswell and does it come with socket lug type fittings as standard as my new mobo doesn't have the 4 holes around the socket for bolt type mounting.

Planning on ordering from Extreme Cooling and until today they seemed to have both the MAZE3 and MAZE3-1 but now they just have the MAZE3-1 which is more expensive anyone know of any other UK stockist of dangerdan stuff?

gonna be using these blocks with an eheim 1048, BIX rad and no res with 1/2 tubing... will this cool my overclcocked 2400+ and gf3 adequetly?

some imput from the mighty Haddy would be reasuring too

The only problem i see is with the mounting system....You say your new mobo doesnt have the 4 holes for the mounting system? The maze block series only comes with mounting for the 4 holes. One reason being that the lugs on the socket arent meant to take the pressure the block would exert on it to get a good tight fit.

My suggestion, new motherboard or a new block.....

Maze 3-1 can be used without the coldplat.....

Yes bix is more then enough to cool just about anything...

 

Well DD does have a socket hold down: Socket Hold Down so maybe you can use that.

well it's been ordered now lots of loverly gear on its way to me now can't wait for the weekend. Time to hack mod my case and install the new kit, weee....

 

another couple of questions

1) how much water will i roughly need to fill the system bearing in mind i won't be using a resevoir?

2) where can i get de-ionised water from and how much does it cost?

I've got about 9 feet of hoses running everywhere since I have my heatercore mounted externally next to a window. I'm also using an automotive heatercore which dwarves all other radiators designed for PC use, along with a fairly decent sized reservoir. Took approx 3/4 gallon in the loop to fill the rez half way. You might be able to get away with 1/4-1/3 gal as most of my water sits in the rez or runs through the heatercore.

 

i usually usee about a gallon when i fill up....but that just cause i usualy fill and run it for about 2 weeks then empty it *along with any junk that was in any of the parts* then refill it again...

 

Or you could have 2 of them...





wouldnt ever try and use them on an AMD though - itll crush the crap out of the core! The pressure it exerts is beyond silly, luckly my p3s have spreaders on them.

another question of the order of flow.

for best performance is it better to have a higher flowrate through the cpu block by having it as the first thing after the pump or is it better to have the coldest water that has just come from the rad to go to the cpu block but it would have a lower flow rate after the rad? or am i miss understanding everything lol

basically will i get better performance from going;

pump --> CPU --> GPU --> rad --> pump

or

pump --> rad --> CPU --> GPU --> pump

will their be a major difference?
