Nvidia NForce or VIA??

ive been using the n-force for 2 years now never let me down, always been a top performer and im waiting for the dfi lanpart nf3ultrad but its been delayed for 4 months now grrrrr at dfi, i think ill harass sales again hehe.

 

They do, first division (or whatever its called now). But its City not Utd.

Well, he had a valid point as there is a PCI-X and a PCI-E and they are very different creatures.

i have a via and i wish i had an nForce3 250gb. You can lock the agp and pci and allows for a more flexible OC.

 

The pro version of the via chipset has the lock on it too. My vote is definately for the nforce3 250Gb over the via. I'm not gonna give a childish and retarded reason like hilmana did, but for gaming pc's i've had to many bad experiences with via, kind of got a bad taste from them over the years. However i have sold many problem free PC's that use via chipsets. ever since my first game machine with a via chipset i have always used Intel chipsets, my Athlon XP machine uses nforce 2, and i just bought a MSI mobo that has the nforce3 250Gb chipset. I'm finally jumping into the a64 world head first.

 

I must admit that the NForce2 chipset has left a pleasant taste in my mouth, so to speak. I think, at this moment in time, I would choose Nvidia over Via if they released equal chipsets.

 

for Athlon XP i would use a mobo with nvidia chipset, for an athlon 64 i would choose a via chipset... nforce 3 suckz

 

nah, it rules, go Nforce.

 

All reviews I have seen show VIA is the dominant chipset for Athlon 64 at the moment, with its higher performance. NVIDIA dropped the ball on this one, although they do make good Athlon XP chipsets. I think the poll shows that NVIDIA is the best because VIA have a reputation for having crap chipsets for Athlon XP, but they really turned around with their new batch.

 

KT266a and KT333 were pretty damn good.

 

Sorry, should say crap compared to NVIDIA chipsets.

 

...untill nforce2 came along . tbh, even kt400 and kt600 arn't bad, its just nforce is faster.

 

Or "excessive" ? dual channel memory just saturates the bus. Yea, it makes it faster but the nforce 1 was a pile of crap

I like the MCP-T though, cant beat dolby sound.

 

Definitely go with the DFI board, it's rock solid and you can overclock like there's no tomorrow. Also, the performance of it is amazing.

 

Honestly, I don't and have never owned an Nvidia chipset, though I do have a few Via's that work fine. However, generally speaking, Via is considered the shallow end of the chipset gene pool.

But I have had PCI-X for two years, however, i have no intention of getting PCIe in the next six months.
