There is all these UV reactive items, but what I want to know is there a CCFL or LED that puts out UV and no visible wavelengths? Or a filter, so that way there is no purple glow, just the reacive things lighting up. thanks
I do think there are LED's , but im unsure about cold cathodes, as the only ones i have ever seen are the pupleish ones and also the ones witht teh black coating, which are better.
Some UV tubes for EEPROM erasing are pure UV. But Pure UV is very bad for you. CCFL's and most LED are "Near UV" light, kinda like Near IR leds They are close enough to create the effect, but not damage your eyes. (Just like near IR leds put out IR light, but not IR heat)
they use pure uv in salt water aquariums to kill bacteria. i use a uv light when i do windshield repairs...it says on the light not to look at it....
Oh ya, there are pure UV lights in those UV bacteria killing things you see at resturants. But even those still put out blue light. (They look like a weird upward pointing light fixture attached to the wall for no reason)
isn't ultra violet in the visible spectrum? I know its on the fringes but Isn't it still on the edge of the visible spectrum?
Ultraviolet light is that portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that lies beyond the “purple” edge of the visible spectrum and has wavelengths between 100 and 400 nm. The UV spectrum is further divided into ranges as follows: Range Name Wavelength Range (nm) UVA 315-400 UVB 280-315 UVC 200-280 Vacuum UV (VUV) 100-200
