Three grand? ...seriously?

I'd need to actually try the keyboard out before deciding whether it was a good one. The trackpad positioning and pseudo-numeric pad would also take a lot of getting used to I suspect. Even when bolted to a desk, I almost never use a separate keyboard with a laptop.

I know it was a custom build, but my (2.5KG) mobile workstation just passed its fourth birthday and had a top-end quad-core CPU, 32GB RAM, a 4GB 980M (second only to the 8GB variant in the SLI monster laptops) a 4K screen and was able to fit one NVMe M.2 SSD, one SATA M.2 SSD and two 2.5" drives all at the same time. And it cost a touch over two grand from PC Specialist, admittedly with only a single cheap-as-possible M.2, as I stuffed it full of disks after it arrived. OK, so it's battery life is about two hours in Windows when presenting, under an hour in Linux because the power management never quite seems to work right and measurable in tens of minutes if you want to play Witcher 3 without the adapter so it's not all sunshine and roses.

But three grand? I wonder if there is a good equivalent now, and how much it would cost...

i stopped getting clevo based lappys as theres hardly any upgradability outside of mem and storage. my last one was 980m sli which was a supper laptop.
i still think if any of these new laptops are up the standards alienware set with its onl m18Xr2 laptops those were very well built and upgradable
