News Google sweetens On2 deal

    If my maths are right, this means that Google is offering $134 mil when the current value trading value is $136 mil. I'm sure there are plenty of other details that aren't released though, and I doubt being bought by Google is going to harm On2 in any way.

    All this just makes me really wish I'd got an Android phone :/

    Hopefully they accept the offer, then Google can open source the VP8 codec and recommend it for HTML5 standard.

    I'd love to see better video compression on Android, especially because I recently bought a nice and shiny Samsung Galaxy Spica. :)

    so we are still stuck with codec wars huh?

    There is also Dirac and H.265 (yes 5) looming around the corner.
