I don't know how testing two games really makes a decent gaming test.

Toms Hardware did a much more intensive test including frametime testing:

    http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/pentium-g3258-overclocking-performance,review-32974.html

The Core i3 tends to have better frametimes in most of the games tested, even when the Pentium is overclocked. Heck, even the positively ancient Athlon II X4 750K is keeping up in a number of games, and in Thief the G3258 was the only CPU tested to show stuttering.

On the Skyrim graph, you have the CPU at 4.2GHz and 4.8GHz.
Is this supposed to be 3.2GHz and 4.8GHz, like the other graphs?

Does anyone know yet whether this has enough horses for the more CPU intensive games like BF3/4 multiplayer for example?

People would have to buy one and test them in it. Outside of 64 player multi the games are not that demanding anyway.

I am assuming that the lower score in Skyrim should have been the stock of 3.2GHz and not 4.2?

Just to reiterate my question that got swallowed up before.. I'm on the edge of getting one of these for the increased framerates, but if it's going to completely completely fall flat on its face when it comes to rendering.. I dont think it's quite worth the tradeoff

horrific review - using 5 year old DX9 games and calling it a gaming test? try something from the last 18 months and multi threaded.

what size files are you using in handbrake? 16x16 pixels? would suggest a 1080p movie of say 500mb in size for a real test.

    Closer, but still wrong.

I don't understand why you need to over-egg the pudding - Simply asking why they used a none-multi-threaded three year old game would suffice.

Using the same tests they have for so long helps to make comparisons to other cpus.
We all want games to be as multi-threaded as possible, but in reality a lot of games still are not.
From what i can see these cpus look a great budget choice, more so if cheaper motherboads can clock them as high especially for RTS,MMO and other ipc/lightly threaded games.

    .
Sounds like a bit biased, I saw the AMD FX offering losing in every single benchmark except one of the cinebench's. I guess FX compatible motherboards may be cheaper, but FX negates that with all the power it uses.

On a related note you shpuld try Wolfenstein New Order for multitasking, it actually used all my 6 cores/12 threads perfectly even @60fps (3930k at 4.3ghz, gtx 680, 2560x1440)
