    7.1 sound??

seems a bit pointless to me, especially as i dont know a game out there that would make use of it, and for dvds, im pretty sure, the software isnt out either yet....

7.1 isn't actually a format, it is usally created by taking a 5.1 or 6.1 sound source and creating another 1/2 channels out of it. Considering DOOM III will support 5.1 channel surround sound, this card (if its any good, usually only fairly heft AV recievers do this, not £50 sound cards), will be able to take the 5.1 output and extrapolate it to 7 speakers. Which is nice.

Hand me the mouse pls :D

    7.1, i'm sorry but why?

5.1 still hasn't caught on in a big way. Admittedly it's nice but why not just get a nice pair of headphones?

I agree with DaWibbla. Headphones allow me to be completely involved in a game, with complete 3d sound. Music is better as well. Without all the cost and space issues.

Also don't have to worry about my microphone picking up speaker sounds.

nice mouse, but cordless isn't good for games due to the slight latency. the mx500 i think is the same mouse but with a cord.

Nice mouse, mine should get here late this week (or early next week). As far as latency problems for gaming, the new MX technology is supposed to have fixed that.

Hey, I am getting that same sound card soon too. Its on order from the local shop. I thought I fried my SBLive but trying a working one in the same PCI slot and it not working made me mad so I just went and ordered the card. I then thought "wonder if I move it to this PCI slot....." oh, now it works. :grr: So now I think I have fried PCI slot number 6 on my precious KX7. :grr: And I have a sound card coming that I dont really need. Oh well, this SB has been making me mad lately with its crappy sound quality under heavy disk load. :grr: So new Fortissmo III for me it is. :D Dont ask why we need 7.1 surround, just know its cheaper than SB Audigy and sounds just as good. ;):)
