Yeah there might have been the potential for some good stories but completely ruined by the over cheesiness and the horrific gadgest. "Jam trousers were useless Q! What were they all about?!"
What?! It's quite clear actually. Bad guys hunting James Bond in an Aston. Bad guys get free sightseeing tickets to all the steep cliffs. What's more to understand in that opening sequence?
Once the action starts there is barely a shot which last more than a second. It (crap) style over substance. If your going to spend a fortune making a car chase than let the viewer actually see some of it.
am i the only one that actually likes the absurd gadgetry ? from the scuba lotus to the invisible Aston and everything else ... even old Q's fishing boat
This is rapidly turning into a general Bond discussion thread Awesome! I did love the Espritmarine but the invisi-aston was just stupid. Anyway the nicest bond car had no gadgets, the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud that Tibbett drove in A View To A Kill, the epitome of class
Casino Royale is one of my favourite Bond films (bare in mind I am 19). Casino Royale to me seemed to be the first Bond film which went back to the original Bond films with Sean Connery. Quantum of Solance for me was a big disappointment for me, but there is a excuse for it not living up to its expectations. http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplayl...of-solace-he-rewrote-scenes-with-marc-forster
New trailer: I see he's managed to get the DB5 imported from Bahamas... Really looking forward to this.
Or when its a comedy and the trailer shows every single funny moment in the trailer making it pointless to watch the film. Trailer looked good, haven't actually seen QoS so will have to check that out for science!
As Bindi said, QoS wasn't a terrible film by any standards, it's just that Casino Royale set the bar a bit high (but then it did actually use a Fleming story for once). Even the "Quantum of Solace" name, which many have lambasted as being stupid, is from a Fleming short story (IIRC, the quantum in mention refers to the smallest amount of remorse that Bond feels for killing a bad guy). Still, the new trailer looks good, hopes are high for this one...
Well, I'm fairly excited by that trailer. It's got plenty of classic things in there such as being tortured for way too long by a bad guy who could have easily just killed him, ridiculous chase/fight scenes such as that backhoe ripping open the train, and I couldn't help but smile at the PPK scene. One of my big complaints about newer Bond movies is that they seem to be getting too serious for my taste. While that's not likely to change completely Skyfall does seem like it's trying to rebound from QoS in a good way.
My interest has been thoroughly peaked by that trailer. I would love Christopher Nolan to do a Bond film.
If the movie's only two minutes long, that is. I'm sure you haven't seen everything, and the context is missing.
They should have stayed on the 'Casino Royale' path, but they decided that good stuff wasnt good enough for hollywood... They like their cheesecake very cheesy, and so sweet that a bite make you puke :-/
