You'd still need video memory due to the massively parallel nature of the way video cards work, however it does bring about some interesting ideas when you take data access time out of the whole computer equation. Essentially the modern computer is completely built around having to store local copies of data your working on in fast memory as opposed to just addressing the data wherever it is. Before this technology can really be fully taken advantage of i think we'll see a complete change in system architecture.
+1 I dont think we will see any major changes until some serious thought goes into system architecture. As of right now, the direction we're heading eventually it wont be a matter of how much more we can pack into a PC or laptop, its a matter of the technology will have been maxed out (at least from what we know) That's the beauty of it though, there is always another way of doing things... just takes creative and intelligent people to find them. Electrical Engineering is not my strong point so count me out of that one
