My MBP has developed a screen fault, so I'm going to send it back for repairs soon. Thankfully I've been using Time Machine for backup for a while now. Currently I've got the drive partitioned via Boot Camp into a FAT32 Windows and a HFS+ for Mac OS. Time machine is only backing up the HPS+ partition.

Say Apple wiped my drive and I got back the default install (single HFS+ partition). How will Mac try to restore my settings in Time Machine? Will it automatically repartition the drive, or would I need to do this first?

I would just try restoring normally, and then make your boot camp partition afterwards if it doesn't do that on its own.
