Budget: around £4-500 Main uses of intended build: Gaming Parts required: Motherboard, CPU m.2 boot drive and RAM Previous build information (list details of parts): AMD A8 Black Edition, 8gb DDR3, 570 gfx Monitor resolution: 1080p Storage requirements: Lots Will you be overclocking: Yes Any motherboard requirements (no. of USB, Xfire/SLI, fan headers): M.2 Extra information about desired system: Using it for gaming, nothing extreme, trying out overclocking for the first time. Have all the storage, would like to have an m.2 boot drive. Taking my 1080 over from my last system and reusing the case. I have two builds I’m considering. Build A: Ryzen 7 3700x, Biostar B550 GTA, and Patriot Viper 4 16gb(2133 but will XMP up to 3200. £484 Build B: Core i5 9600k Gigabyte Z390D Corsair LPX 3600. £357.21 Which would you consider?
I'd be all over Ryzen if I was building at the moment, particularly as you'll have access to the next Gen CPUs with a B550 board. I have little experience with Biostar, but feel they are a 'tier 2' supplier. OC on Ryzen needs good VRMs from what I've read, and you may not do any better manually than PBO offers out of the box. Looking at Ebuyer, who list both, (subject to reviews), I'd suggest spending £7 more on the Asrock B550 Pro4 ATX board. If you can go mATX, MSI's Mortar has been well reckoned in B450 and B500. /2p
