is there any way of manually sending out a DHCPDISCOVER request ? I wanna scan the network to see who is running a DHCP server and then go kick thier arse!!!
Um..i saw some vb code for finding about the ip address of any dhcp servers on a network - didnt work when i tried it tho But i gues its possible - if thats what you mean?
Several weeks back, I needed to find out who was still using DHCP, so I created a batch script. It can be found here: http://peterszaro.com/downloads/who_is_using_dhcp.bat If you need help with it, let me know!
Well....nope but i saw the source on the web a while ago:unsure: BUT seeing as its you Koolvin i will try and find it again... Edit: http://www.mvps.org/vbnet/index.html?http://www.mvps.org/vbnet/api/_api/apig.htm here is the link - but it didnt work on my pc
Why not just do it the easy way and scan all of the addresses on that subnet for a box that responds to port 67 chances are you will find your culprit(s)... (In the event its of any news by default DHCP listens on port 67 and talks on 68) ::Edited Never mind just tried that a scan doesn't show up because it splits the send/recieve ports... next bet would be to set up a sniffer to capture packets on port 68, and setup a box requesting DHCP and capture all the replies to locate the boxes actively running the daemon/server.
