Try using the magic wand selecting tool with the right sensitivity setting and deleting your selection. This will always work well if your background is very different then the image, in this case i think it will do well.

Just go google some selecting photoshop tutorials.

Use the magic wand tool. Click on the required area, hit delete, deselect, repeat.

    Edit: beaten :(

Try using the extract tool (it's in the Filter menu).

The problem is that your eraser width is too wide. Select the regular eraser again and make it smaller--something around 8 pixels for an image like this, down to 4 pixels for smaller areas.

The larger the eraser width is set at, the fewer times Photoshop will do the action, so it will actually do an erase every 10 pixels your mouse travels instead of a preferable 1 or 2 pixels.

By the way, when doing the magic eraser, remember to check the "Use Antialiasing" feature.

Make the sensitivity lower and just delete right around the girl (you can use Shift or CTRL or ALT, cant remember, to add or minus from your selection). Then use the lasso tool to delete everything else, that will leave you with a clean image.

If you post the originals instead of your composition, or atleast use a bmp or png compression (so its not compressed) you will end up with a much better result aswell.

As soon as you save the image it automatically applies some compression to it depending on what format you chose to use. JPG (the one you've used.) is what we call a lossy compression, meaning... well... it removes picture quality to save space. You could use BMP or PNG or a few others out there that are lossless, so they don't remove any picture quality. But of cource the sacrifice is file size.

I recommend checking out this website for some photoshop tutorials, its pretty good. http://www.pixel2life.com/

Edit: This might help you out with this: http://www.basicphotoshop.com/tutz/pstutz11.htm

Computerking, please calm down. If you need some help cleaning up an image in Photoshop, you can ask in a calm, polite manner and I'm sure any number of folks in here will be willing to help. Swearing, using text-speak, and capitalising every other word is likely to frustrate anyone who may be trying to help.

As with everything in life, you can't expect to pick up Photoshop and create a masterpiece on your first try. It's a computer program, but it's no different than learning to use a real paintbrush, or a real pencil. The brilliant images you keep talking about all took time, talent, and good old fashioned experience. None of those artists picked up CS3 and whipped up a work of art by clicking a mouse a few times.

Please, read some of the tutorials that others have linked. After that, be patient with your image. Take your time and really work at it. If you need further assistance, come back and ask in a simple, calm manner.

Because these people have years and years of experience in it. You have... a few days use?

Do you know what half the stuff in Photoshop does? If not: read tutorials online or find a book and follow guides. If everyone could become an expert in 20 minutes, no one would make any money.
