This is my first modding project. The first thing I did was stealth the drives and paint the floppy drive. I worked on those for about two days and they look really good. The next thing I did was install a neon. That was no big deal - $12 dollars from Wallmart. The last thing I did was work on rounding the cables. I couldn't justify separating every strand so I decided to "square" them instead and wrap them in fiberglass reinforced tape. I'm going to see soon if it is UV reactant. The pictures I took of what I have done so far are below... This picture shows the case just sitting there looking pretty - and look no drives!!! Another shot of the sexy case (riight). Painted floppy... Bloo neon and "squared cables" Drives out. I'm working on it again tonight so expect pictures by tomorrow! back to the drill... Nick
Step one - FAIL - i almost fried my hard drive doing the ide thing... im just going to switch out the led's and put the switch in tonight. **** that scared the **** out of me.... Ok - now i finished the led's in the front and the switch on the side... here are pictures below:
If you liked it yesterday... you will definitely like it today -- i lighted the front plexiglass with blue led's... MMMM bloo it really brings out the yellow in the front led. Pictures are right here :: This is my modroom - aka dorm room . The only thing bad about college life on campus is just that. On Campus! Im such a mess when I work. Mmmmm blooo... mooooree blooo!!!
dont tell me you modded a pre modded case!!! i thought that i was the only lazy basterd out here that did that looks tight nice and clean good work
I dont see any reason that you cant mod a case that comes with a window. who ****ing cares everyone has one anyways! lol!
What case is that? I've seen it before. I'm pretty sure it comes with the front panels being sort of "backlighted." Case looks great though!
1 - no they are not back lighted 2 - its made by raidmax and didnt even come with the neon or any other light so it couln't have been lighted. 3 - i did all the work so HA!
Can you show us some photos of how you illuminated the front sheet of acrylic? What type of LEDs did you use? I have a similar case, but at the moment I can't really find a way of illuminating it without the LEDs being too visible.
The lighted front face... I dont have any pictures of it anymore, but all you have to do is run the 12v and the ground through an unused hole in the usb/audio thing. put the led's inside there aimed up. the led's are rated at like 2300 mcd at 3.8 v. run 3 of them in circuit and that is roughly 4 v per led which wont screw them up. wire them to a switch and you are done. I used duct tape to make sure the utility face thing stayed shut.
