    Hi Guys!

Today i made the second part of the control panel it will hold the key switch, 2 LED's and 2 push switches.

I cut it out of the back of the old housing of the keypad:
Masking, marking, and than the angle grinder fairly simple to do.

And after a lot of filing and sanding i ended up with this:
the large hole is for the key switch above that 2 push buttons as power buttons for both systems and above that 2 LED's for power on on both systems.

Later today i'll do some fitting on both panels.
I think the finish on the panel will be brushed and than matt black, the actual keys are white plastic and i think that i'll be replacing them with some nicer custom ones :naughty:

Post a pic of the back so we can judge better.

Could you make a plexi ring glued to the back of the faceplate and attach to that?

    This is the back side:

the idea of the plexi ring might work have to see if that will be strong enough.

You could also bond the other edge of the plexi to the PCB any place it can touch safely. If it'll touch all the way around, might want some air holes depending on what's on the board.

That's an great idea i'll try to work it out :thumb:
No airholes needed only 1 LED and the switches are on the board the rest in on another board.
    Thanks :D

By the way your waterplant is super, can't wait for your control panel and the erector PC

instead of using the white part for the keys, make the key holes in the face plate its self.
and epoxy some nuts for the mounting screws on the plate.

    Hi Guys!

After being ill for some day here a update on the front panel.

To get the buttons working i had to make a guide or else they would hook behind the panel and wouldn't come back to their start position.
So i took a piece of 5mm smoked plexi and made it to size:
The holes are not large enough but...

After being clamped in a small vice:
I could file them to the exact size.

This is the standard (button) print of the stacker:
The LED's are allready removed and as you see the button are not the same size.

But because i have 2 stackers i also had another set:
I switched them so i had 2 buttons of the same size.

Here is everything put together in one of the panels i made earlier:
I didn't have enough m3 hexheads but new ones are on the way.

    And this is the back:
And here you can see the reason i used the standard print of the stacker i'm able to fine tune the position of the buttons also the 2 LED's can be soldered directly on the print, and because of the plug it's easy to disconnect.

Tonight i start with the lettering that will be on this panel.

    Regards, Bas van der Werff

Thanks :thumb: the planning took a fair amount of time i can tell you.
The buttons for the power on are going to get a nice light effect that's why i used smoked plexi instead of something non transparent, also the keys are going to get a nice light "ring".

    More Aluminium Letters!!

    Hi Guys!

After some rest and antibiotics i'm feeling much better :D

As seen on the design on most of the panels there will be a text label to add to the industrial feel, today i made a start with the first one.

    First i taped up a 2mm x 25mm aluminium flatbar:
And marked up the lettering in the same style as before:

Then i took a sharp knife and cut out the letters:
Wat was a time consuming job because, they are so small but i had to do it to know that i marked all the lines with the knife.
After that i removed all the masking tape and the outline of the lettering was clearly carved in the aluminium.

A first i made a test piece with the letters engraved in the aluminium but that wouldn't give the look i wanted, cutting them completely out in the same way as the other ones isn't possible because they are just to small (8mm high) and lining them up afterwards wouldn't have looked good.
So i'm going to file out most of the aluminuim that's between the letters just leeving a small strip to keep them together.

All comment and sugestions are welkom.

    Regards, Bas van der Werff.
