Following on from my post many months ago, I have a frozen Kindle Paperwhite here that I can't reboot or do anything with. It's still showing the Kindle startup page with the tree on it. I now wonder if I can strip it down and use the e-ink screen on my Raspberry Pi? I can see stuff about hacking live Kindle s and also using Kobo readers, but not repurposing Kindle screens.
Thanks Jeff, I have a frozen Kindle and want to re use the screen (maybe stripped off the machine) on its own with a Raspberry Pi
Ben Krasnow's video on Electrophoretic dispaly hacking is a good place to start. E-ink panels are not trivial to drive, and have a whole pile of unique weird quirks unlike other displays.
