damn, pc hardware is really getting more of a hammering these day with the newer games.

I cant afford the upgrade to play this and other like it. my 360 is looking like a good investment everyday.

This is still three year old hardware to be fair.

What is equivalent to a core 2 in AMD terms these days where does the Athlon 2 sit?

Do I need to take out my contact lenses and put on my glasses?!!! ...... I don't see anything that indicates DirectX 10 or 11....
Anybody knows whether it'll run those?

Run in XP my guess 9 maybe with some 10 support

and as to the 360 comment to play the same game the recommended PC spec will be much higher detail, drop it back to 360 level and much older hardware will work

    <chuckle>

    1) Buy something like the above minimum spec in 2006
    2) Save £10 to £20 on each PC game bought vs console
    3) Buy 10 games a year
    4) Profit !

Quad core is pretty light requirements, standard for a decent gaming rig.

I'm going to assume my e8400 @ 4GHZ is good enough still.

I'm going to assume my Q6600 would still suffice.

Is this stronger than Crysis? better graphics? My Q6600@stock can still run it, and my HD5870 will help it running... because to play games, the GPU is more important than the CPU...

2.8 GHz for a quad core? It looks like the 955 is going to need overclocking sometime in the next year or two.

The recent videos have completely destroyed any interest I had in this game. The first few vids/screens presented a nice and dark film noir feel. The most recent vids show a very arcade saints row crappy atmosphere.

Why the **** is it that games these days need steeper and steeper hardware, yet they're being developed for a fixed platform like the Xbox 360? My guess is just plain laziness. A PC with 3x the power of a console should not be getting a middling 30 fps on console-equivalent settings. Look at the new Red Faction to see what I mean.

They are odd. 8800GT but a quad core, seems like some weird ass lazy coding to me. Saying that my 8800GT is still going strong, playing newer games like borderlands at 1680x1050 with everything on high and 4x AF (any higher doesn't look better and doesn't really do much to the fps either) never dropping below 45fps, the new drivers have helped a lot though. Mostly hitting the vsync when not kicking some brutes head in.
