Thanks. I'm looking forward to see your wood case. Here is another small update. Sad day for me. My motherboard died and now i need to find another one. While I searching for new mobo I decide to work on some of the last parts of this jigsaw. I spend some time thinking how to close holes on front side of the case. First thought was some dust filters but then holes would lose their function. Then I decided to use acrylic. After some sanding this is result. Still need do to three more pieces.
Limiting airflow? It may be watercooled but it still seems vaguely counter-intuitive if you ask me... Regardless, it's great to see some progress on this!
Thank you. Long time no see. Thinking what mobo should I buy took me lot of time. Finally i decide to buy Asus M5A99FX pro 2.0. Also i made new and simpler mounting system for cpu block. Now i have new mobo, time for new gpu. Sapphire HD 7870 GHz edition with EK VGA Supreme HF block. And finally; I have this idea of making full cover block top for mosfet and north bridge. This is prototype, I was thinking about black acrylic or POM. So I need your suggestions about that block cover. Should I go with black acrylic/POM, should I make cover little smaller or maybe just make cover for each block separately?
Hello guys! After few months I have new update for you. First of all; Some photographs were captured by phone, sorry for poor quality. After some troubles with old PSU, Fractal Design sends me brand new. I put PSU in case to see how it looks and decided to cut hole on back to put PSU in line with back side. Also i decided to cut hole for psu fan. After measuring and line drawing it's time to use saw and cut some holes. It's not perfect but after sanding it's pretty good. For back cover I found some old piece of metal and cut it to fit. After measuring, sanding and little more cutting I managed to drill mounting holes and it's perfect. Little more sanding and painting. Painted in black and mounted on case. With new psu I need to find some new solution for HDD mount. So I decide to put hdd in external enclosure, buy ssd and put it in case. SSD will be mounted behind psu. After painting and mounting. Before putting all case apart I did some bends for new tube lines. Unfortunately my idea for full cover motherboard block is on hold for now. I will probably leave stock heatsink .
It's time for new update. I decided to put one 140mm fan on front side as outtake for hot air. I found some sharkoon 140mm fan, and cut unnecessary pieces. After all i took fan apart and started cut new frame. Cut and glued together. In case. Also, I painted those ugly I/O ports on mobo. New plexy for front holes. Adjusted to fan. In meantime case got new layer of clear coat and all is back together again. Front side. Back side. All components assembled (poor pic quality). And cables. Thanks to fractal design for sponsoring my build with this awesome PSU.
The blue and and brown color scheme works really well. Especially the coolant looks nice in contrast. I'm not sure if removing the fan duct is a good idea though from an efficiency standpoint.
I've only just found this project - thank you for the recent update causing it to rise to the top of the thread listing. Very nice stylish design. Any plans for any future wooden cases?
Do you have a side panel for the case? It looks like you routed out to have a flush side panel, but I don't see any pics with one. Just curious. I am always in support of good wooden builds! I started out making cases all in wood, but have found that it works much better for me to use a wooden exterior with an aluminum base as it allows for easier panel removal and access to the internals. Very nice case.
Thanks. Fan need to pull only hot air from vrm. Everything else is under water or doesn't run that hot. If fan doesn't prove to be efficient I will change it. Thanks. Thank you. I have some plans for new case, but realization (money issues) always stops my ideas. Thanks. I have full acrylic side panel. I will post some pics this weekend.
I want to share a few new photos with you. After some time backplate is finally on GPU. I got one switch for LED diode on reservoir, and fan connector for two fans on radiator. (poor quality pic) And few photos with acrylic panel. Water will go back in system this weekend.
New update after long time. Many changes since last update. Front 140 mm fan have been replaced with two beQuiet! Pure Wings 2 fans. New CPU and GPU blocks; EK Supremacy Evo and EK Thermosphere. After constant coil whine GPU decided it's time for dying. Got new Sapphire R9 270X. After all changes tubes didn't fit any more so I bent a few new pipes. And few more photos. Enjoy.
Just was to say thank you! There are so many builds where wood is used and they use a super wood (chipboard) and even is a decent wood is used it is just painted black and the wood never feels like part of the build merely a cheap structure. Keeping an eye on this!
