I recently built a new computer into a Silverstone Tj-05 case. I replcaed the silverston fans with noctua fans. But now my temps have gottent significantly higher than the case i was ising before (antec 300) the one temp in particular i worried about was the mobo as it has sitting at 42 degrees on idle. also the vc was hot to the touch and the cpu sat around 50 degrees. I am thinking i will just go back the 300 as i am not very compfortable with those temps. Any ideas as to why ?
i have the fron 120 and 80mm fans acting as intake and the rear and side fans acting as exhaust. Perhaps the side should be intake as well ?
Antec 300/900/1200 are one of the best airflow case around. in terms of airflow, you've really gone backwards. but in terms of quality of the case, you have gone forward.
true but i rather it cool temps then cool looking. But ya that case is a beast you could cram a TON of stuff in it. BUt i think i will be switching back the cheaper case and try to sell the silverstone.
Those seems above average for temps, but it's hard so say as you give no data from your Antec 300 for comparison. What kind of specs are those fans you're using? Because if they're the silent low 1000 rpm ones, you get awful airflow. And yes, this makes a massive difference. Indeed, when I use a push/pull 120mm Sharkoon Eagles @ 950 rpm on a Scythe Ninja, my E6600 still hits 46*C idle inside a Lian Li V1000. In comparison, when I replace the Sharkoons with 120mm Scythe fans @ 1600 rpm, the E6600 idles at 36*C.
The fans are low rpm around 1300rpm. I mean i could beef them up as i have some 3000rpm scythe monstrosities. but they both won't fit as they are 38mm deep fans. The antec 300 temps were atleast 10-15 degrees cooler. Cpu idled around 36, mobo was around the same. and all with low speed fans. So i think as far as a cooling solution it is probably going to be the best solution. Should only take me about an hour to do.
