well when I was installing windows it kept crashing.. I checked the ram sticks (2x 512) and it kept crashing and stuff with one stick of ram, so i've put it aside and it seems to be that stick of ram that is the problem. I've tried all the ram slots and it still happens, so it must be that one stick of ram Also with that stick in the system it says its running at 333 not ddr400 Is there anyway To get this stick working again?
It's a long shot, but are the contacts on the DIMM dirty or dusty in any way? Also, do you have another computer to test the RAM in at all?
Hmm I just got my GEIL dual channel kit 2x 512 wich is really nice But when I add the other working stick of 512 (all sticks are DDR400) the system wont boot and it just beeps at me. wtf?
Is it a AMD CPU? Not fanboyism but the onboard memory controler on the 64s makes them funny with what combinations of memory work.
its a amd 64 3500+ venice core in a DFI SLI-DR mobo says it can take up to 4gb ram in its 4 solts, it also says it supports 512 sticks, wtf? lol
put in the 2 matching, turn it on and underclock the ram. save bios settings. turn off. put in the odd 3rd ram stick. bring the clocks back up slowly, and/or increase dram voltage.
Yes I'm aware of that, but the older ones are headaches with memory problems. Keir did not provide information in his first post that would have ruled out he was using a Venice.
IIRC the DFI board doesn't liek using 3 sticks. I would just use the new ones and not bother with the other, or buy another one to make 4 sticks.
