i got a chieftec tower... it has guard rails and when i screwed them onto the DVD-ROM drive and slid it in, it doesnt lock into place... theres this curled up metal part at the end of the guard rail that hits a tab that is (i think) suppose to lock the guard rails on the tower into place. that curled up metal part is stoppin it from locking it in. ionno if i have to cut or not.. can someone tell me how to install it or what to do? cause its really ****in me off... stupid guard rails...!!! :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:

    erm, chill out?

just screw the drive rails onto ur CDROM, furthest to the front.

then slide the drive in, until it clips.

    heres an image.

OMG installing the drive bay rails isnt exactly a "Kryton Factor Challenge" this must be the 2nd thread about it this week.

Screw the rails onto ya drive, this can be tricky as you need to arrange the rail to that the drive is flush with the front of ya case, u mostly need to use the slots on the rail for this alignment.

There is a notch on the metal tab that should "click" the whole drive into place, which will secure the drive into the case. To release the drive again .... push the 2 metal tabs together on either side of the drive (in wards) to release the notches and the drive should slide out easily.

omg... you guys dont get it... it doesnt exactly slide in as easy as you guys think... like i said, theres this curled up part at the end of the rail guard. and it is hitting the "notch" as i slide the rail guard in. thats the only thing that is stopping it from locking into place. take a look...

:eeek: OMG dood u have gotten totally the wrond end of the stick!!!!

I'm gonna use ya diagram as reference ok.

I'm assuming that wot u call the notch is actually part of the innerds of the case and the end where u have written "DVD-ROM" is the front, as you have implied that the "curled up" part is preventing u from pushing it in to "lock in".

For starters the rail is mounted on the drive the wrong way ... the "curled up" part should be facing the from of the drive. In ya diagram the "locker" is actually drawn wrong, it should be facing the other way. This is the notch I'm refering to in my previous post.

I have one as well :D they are IMHO the best steel cases you can buy........though they are very very commonplace these days, when I got mine way back last August only 2 shops stocked em and they were hexclusive, but not any more......no bother

    :)
