James Doohan, famous for his roll as Scotty on Star Trek, died in his home today. He will be missed, but never forgotten. Beam me up, Scotty! He died peacefully in his home.
I'm givin' her all she's got captin'!!! He'll be missed, it's always a shame to hear about people you grew up with dying.
I will never forget: "I'm givin' her all she's got captin'!!!" (Like kiljoi said) He will be missed and may he rest in peace
RIP Scotty. He will be sorely missed. Even though I'm too young for the original Star Trek, I'm going to miss him. _C
Pneumonia, according to the BBC, and he had Alzheimer's disease for some time. I really quite choked up about this. He was my favourite character from TOS. Sure, Kirk got all the women, and Spock and Bones always got the laughs from their incessant bickering, but it was Scotty that always got them home. RIP.
I had a bit of a startle when I saw this title.... anyways, it's a damn shame. RIP Scotty, you mad, space adventuring Scotsman.
and why didnt we invent transporters so that we could keep him in the pattern buffer until a cure was found for his Alzheimer's. Although born Canadian, hell always been a Scot in my scottish eyes.
Well, he was 85... seeing him in the repeats you forget how long ago they were made. I'll raise a wee malt to him. A fit old chap though... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/tv_and_radio/4701167.stm
scotty is the reason i chose to become an engineer. I heard in an interview with sulo(sp?) that the character wass 99% the man and 1% acting. beam me up... god.
scotty kept the original star trek together, without him, they were all misfits... /salutes he'll be missed, but at least he had a long life.
That will be the second Trekkie burial in space. The first space burial ever was Gene Roddenberry. God speed, Scotty!
