You can get vinyl dye from halfords in the paint section but i'm not sure if you can get it in flourescent colours. They do sell Flourescent Paint though, so you could always paint it.

They don't do the "vinyl dye" but IIRC Wilco have some bright colours in aerosol suitable for plastics.

B&Q sell spray paints called Plasti-Kote in flourescent colours. They have tons of different colours, went there today and there were 3 columns of shelves full of them!

    Hi everyone.

@ Kalm - I have seen the paint you mean in black and Im going to get a can. Expensive though at tenner a tin :jawdrop:

@ CPemma - Ive never heard of IIRC Wilco but will seach on google. (Halfords DO do vinly paint/dye)

@ Mr W W - Beleive it or not, PlatiKote won't paint plastic!!!!! It 's for metal!!!! Typical :duh: I was in BnQ and looked and asked. Apparently they do a product that will however BnQ dont stock it.

I may start my own shop aimed at the modding market imporitng vinyl dye!! There seems a huge gap in the market here in the UK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually you are wrong. As I said, there are tons of different sprays. And there are loads that has a big print on it "Plastic super gloss" and "Plastic matt" and some others. They will spray on plastic, check this thread out if you don't believe me!

sorry, i must of taken you the wrong way the way it was wrote.

I have followed that link you posted and it seems a great source of info.

I have heard that if you do not use specific plastic/vinyl paint it won't last as plastic is pourous (spelling :duh: ) and metal isnt.

Ill re check BnQ for the paint the other lad used for his great pink mod.

    Sorry!

Well, before I used cheap plastic paint and if you scratch it simply, the paint just peels off. The plasti-kote seems a lot better and shiny, which means its gonna stick better!

Your B&Q may be small, thus it does not stock a lot of paint. The B&Q 2 mins away from me is absolutely huge - I think its the third biggest in the UK, this is probably why it stocks everything!

I shall try to get to the bigger BnQ store around here.

Im after fluro yello paint. I bought a small can of "plastikote fast dry enamel" in fluro yello.

I am going to try to see if this will work on an old CD drive. :naughty:

It says it is for use on plastic or metal??? I thought both these needed different specialist paints??

whats best for primer and laquear?

I've painted my Hydor L30 with the fast dry enamel (109's silver) I didn't primer it or anything like that, just gave it around 5 coats and a few more of clear lacquer.

I've done the same with a CD bezel with similar results, just make sure you lacquer it afterwards. If you don't you can literally scratch the paint off.

Its exactly the same paint:):):) :D :thumb: :thumb:

Itt have to prime first as Im going over black with the yellow.

How did the results come out mate. they look great but are the scratch proof and day to day use proof?

could this paint be sutable to mod a mouse or is it likely to come of in your hand over time?

Thanks tons for your help mate

As long as you put a good few layers of clear lacquer over the top and let it harden for the time it says on the tin (some can take up to a week  ) it should be fine :)

Glad I could help, let us know how you get on :thumb:
