guy wants to trade me a comp for my laptop i have a 1,4ghz tbird and his comp is a amd 64 2600 what kind of speed diff are we lookin at.
This is a joke right? Qute a big speed difference! The Amd 64 2600 (I didnt know they made a 2600?) will kick the living crap out of the tbird. Also, this is the wrong place for this methinks!
well it says its 1.67ghz so iwasnt sure.....i got out of computers right around the time the athalon2000xp came out soo im behind the times
Get CPU-Z on them and compare the two specs. Make sure theres nothing dodgy going on too, I've heared of people swapping laptops for pc's only to find theres something wrong with the pc, like the hdd's nearly dead, or it randomly crashes (usually PSU/RAM issue).
Definetly test it out, What kind of video card and memory? run 3Dmark or something. You never know, maybe something might not be working with his PC.

your laptop will probably provide you better use. Why do you think he would up and wanna trade. You can build something much better for the cost of that laptop. I used to have one like it and got rid of it for a desktop. I wish i woulda kept it now. Me personally id keep the laptopfor the value of the wireless.
well i never use the laptop and i find it slower than my 1.4 desktop and it has no battery life at all. but i alos have a guy wanna trade me a dual 2.6 xeon serevr only downfall is no agp and 2 pci slots and 2 pci-x slots i need 1 for sound and one for wirless so i i need another for a pci gfx card
You can build similar system like that for: Mobo $100 CPU $150 Case $80 Video Card $60 Ram $45 Burner $40 HDD $80 (can get for 250/300Gigs for 130-150$ -80$ rebates if you care) So the PC is actually worth about $600 but without screen and used. Now try to find me a laptop (from reliable place, not ebay) with similar specs for $600
