I want to build a computer with a lot of hard drives because I found several hard drives with controller card. So now I need a power supply that can power all the hard drives but a lot of power supply seems to only have 4 (I am talking about OEM style) Is there way to mod the power supply so that it wouldn't have any other power connector but hard drive power connectors? (I'll run a primary power supply that'll power the MoBo and etc.) Also I would like to use plexiglass for my new case but I can only get it in clear, yet I would like it in Smoked Black like that old N64. Would the clear case become smoked black or similar if I painted it black and then leave it to somewhat dry then erase it so that some black is left?
if you spraypainted it black its almost impossible to "erase" lol and if you try to do it before drying youll mess up your case badly some companies like c3 have like diffrent colors than clear acrylic, or another alternative is like really light limo tinting : )
painting won't work, try a window tint product. if your any good with a soldering iron, then adding extra molex connectors is easy, get the wire and connectors (or scavenge from an old psu), take out the mobo wiring from the psu circuit board and solder the extra molex leads to the vacant holes from the mobo wiring.
Or do what I do... buy a bunch of male Molex connectors and pins and simply crimp a few more connectors into you case after adding some wire. Most electronics stores will carry these type of connectors...some kits even include a pin remover tool.
Awesome! Thanks for your replies ^-^ I have one more question.. From what I know, Plexiglass is static, and that is why I asked about the painting... How would it become anti-static?
Never seen anyone have problems with static on acrylic cases. You can ghost paint your acrylic--I would personally turn this over to a professional. You can easily tint your own acrylic with auto tinting materials: My basic guide. If you are simply doing a window for your case, you can easily pick up tinted acrylic from usplastics, sandiego plastics, polymerplastics, mcmasters etc. Also, if you want, its pretty easy to fashion an adaptor that'll switch on an auxiliary power supply for other components, so that you won't have to manually turn on your second psu. navig
