Graphics Future-proofing: 7800GTX or x850 Pro?

    As someone else said no point trying to future proof I have 2 x 7800gtx's 2 months ago I had 2 x 6800u's ( which were in my machine for all of 4 - 5 months ) in another month or two there will be the 7800gtx ultras comming out or something to that effect just buy the most expensive card you can afford or wait till the next latest thing comes out and buy the one before it cheap

    Holy crap what resolution are you running at that you need so much power?

    The quote above shows that "future proof" simply means you are willing to deal with lower settings. You can get any of the higher-end cards you want now and it'll run all current games really fast with high settings, but when the next wave of games comes out you'll probably have to deal with slightly lower settings. I'm still really happy with the 6800GT that I bought a little over a year ago. I don't see myself upgrading for at least another year.

    Hes probably like me, running a 24" TFT at 1920x1200 lol
    (i know, dont ask)
