Well, I promised a new mod, and here it is.

Still kind of in the planning stages, but I thought I'd start the log as it would motivate me to get cracking :)

    Project : Prime - Introduction

As seen in my previous mod, I'm a Transformers nut (G1, not the new crap)

So, I decided I wanted to keep a 'theme' going with my kit, so here is another TF based mod.

I will be including a few design elements from the Shuttle mod, just to keep things 'in-line' but hopefully, I'll be able to come up with something original that people will enjoy looking at.

The First thing I hadta do, was buy a new case (I have an Akasa Clear Acrylic 'Thing' which was apparently part of a 'bad batch', none of the screwholes lined up correctly, and after several broken screwheads, I decided to bin the thing, or at least recycle some of the acrylic :)

    So, The victim

    Lian Li - PC61B
It's the first time I've owned an ATX Aluminium case, and I haveta say, I'm very impressed with the build quality, I really like this case, it's almost a shame to do anything to it.

I chose this particular one for a single simple reason, the 3 3.5 inch external bays, perfect sized opening for a PSOne LCD :)

Project : Prime - The Plan

Firstly, a couple of things that will be in the thing.

    Akasa Crystal 4xBlue LED Fans
There will be 4 in here, I've had an idea for a fanbus, just got to build it :)

    PSOne LCD Screen.
I actually fitted this yesterday......turned it on, and discovered that at some point over the last week, something killed it.....so I've bought a new one off eBay :) Bargain.

A few of the ideas I've had that I'm hoping will make it into the mod are thus.....

1/ Illuminated side panels.....These are definately going into it, it was the first idea I had :)
2/ Front Bezel mounted 'Control Panel'.....This would include power switch, DVD RW drawer open/close......and 4 'Winamp Buttons'
3/ Glowing Edges on as much as possible.....see below.
4/ Clear Acrylic Front panel......not as involved as the Shuttle's Panel, just a simple sheet of Acrylic stuck over the original Bezel with some interesting things done to it.
5/ 'glowing' Etch in the front panel Acrylic, haven't decided on the design yet.

Not much else going on at the moment, I've got the ideas, they're just stuck in my head for the time being.

I've already started a couple of bits of wiring (I have the 'winamp' buttons wired up and working, I'll post a pic later in the log)

Now for the interesting bit, the external 'look' of the mod.

The Designs aren't complete as yet, but the main elements that I've finalised are there, the glowing panels, most of the front panel.

Here's a breakdown of the front panel as it stands.
    From top to bottom....
Ports for Creative LiveDrive (The main bezel will be removed and the sockets will protrude through the Acrylic Sheet, with Glowy Edges :)

    Semi-Stealthed DVD RW Drive drawer.....
Just a simple piece of acrylic, again with glowy edges, which will sit flush with the front panel.

'Themed' Control Panel...........Not really easy to see on the pic, I will be remedying that, but there are 6 circle 'segments' that lend themselves very nicley for use as buttons.

PSOne LCD Screen.......as said before fits perfectly in the floppy drive 'hole'

As you can see in the pic of the case, there are 2 fan vents at the bottom......the plan for these is custom made Acrylic fan grills, the same goes for the vent on the top of the case.

I have rough ideas for those designs, but nothing solid.

And I would say that, at least for the moment, is about it.

I will be posting updates pretty much on a daily basis all being well, would like to get this done before the Holidays so I can enjoy my time off work sitting around doing bugger all :)

Hope you like and please don't hesitate to comment :D

    great minds think alike :D

my gundam seed mod is a bit similar, but only in the planning stage thanks to a broken arm

it atleast gives me time to rethink my front (wasn't really happy about it)

you can find my sketchup (without the front, dated 28/11, can't use my mouse now so it's all in my head :p) here ;)

you say it's your second transformers mod, so I'll check your first one out if I find it ;))

[edit] OMG, your Til All Are One project is great
but :duh: , my idea looks alot like yours :(
there goes my original idea :p

yours looks great aswell (as said in my edit ;))

I was planning on using leds in the eyes, but don't know how to add lights in sketchup :p

the case will be lighted with some white leds, drives will be stealthed and with white activity leds, the eyes will be red leds and will function as power-led or activity of my hdd, I'm going to test and see what looks best :)

Now this looks cooler then the first case m8. I guess the smaller case was a warm up for this case. I real like the Robot face on the side, were is face is black but the edges are glowing. Real nice m8.

    Thanks for the kind words.

I use Lightwave 8 to create the images (don't really put too much effort into them TBH. lol, they're just there as a guide more than anything)

This looks like a brilliant idea, was thinking of something similar after i was a autobot bar sign on ebay.

Have you started work on it yet or is it still in the design stages.
