i have read about something called a DHCP server, can someone tell me what this does and how to go about setting one up ?? thanks alot
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=define:dhcp&meta= Simple definition: Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. A TCP/IP protocol that dynamically assigns an IP address to a computer. There are two ways of getting an IP address for your local machines; either manually statically configured and will not change, or it can be automatically obtained dynamically. It will be assigned an address by the DHCP server. Why do you want one? I mean, if you don't know what it is, why do you think you need it to be set up? Just wondering :>
thanks for your help just saw it in another thread and was just curious if it could make my network more efficient than it currently is
