Does one have to be American to appreciate that? 'Twas funny, but I suspect it's an in-joke...

It's taking the piss out of the verizon "can you hear me now" adverts - bloke on phone saying "can you hear me now?"

Always thought that was a rubbish advert - surely it's suggesting they've got poor service if he has to keep saying "can you hear me now?" (Unless they're saying Verizon is better than that...)

Either way it's completely penetrated the US subconcious - similar to "Got milk?" or "Wazzzzzup" It's referenced all over the place - e.g. TV shows (Arrested Development) and songs (Can I have it Like That - Pharrell)

They're showing their dedication to testing their network.

Anyways, amusing enough. Especially seeing that my verizon signal absolutely sucks. I remember back in the day my dad was getting a new "cell" phone (back when they were strictly car-phones) and we were trying to figure out what the digital service offered. The sales guy said "it's crystal clear right up to when it cuts out". He was half-right - it cuts out, but you still can't hear people.

I'll have to watch it when I get into a more safe environment, I don't think work would be the place then ;)
