    my Rig:
    AMD 2500+
    ABIT NF7 REV-2 MOBO
    WD 80GB 7200RPM JB

    i bought another WD 160GB 7200RPM JB hard-drive today.
i defined the new HD as slave, and placed it on the middle IDE connector, while i left the old HD as MASTER and connected it to the first IDE connector.
both HDs r recognized by XP, but the new 1 doesn't apear in my computer! although it apears as working in the device manager and EVEREST.
how can i make the new HD 2 apear in "My Computer"?

Has the new hard drive been formatted?

If you computer management in \control panel\Adminastrative Tools and go down to disk management (think it's the same in XP as in 2k) you shall be able to format and assign drive letters to the partitions

Yes, you need to right click that "Unallocated" part and format it. That's space on your new drive (Disk 1) that is not partitioned; consequently it will not show up in My Computer.

In the disk management screen as seen in the last image, the new drive is 'Disk 1' if you right-click on it, it should come up with options to make a new partition which you can then format.
