Ok for the life of me I can not figure out what the USB ports on the PS2 are used for. Can I throw a flash drive into it and save games on to it? If not what do they do?
You can plug the peripherals into them, like an EyeToy for example. I think the microphones plug into them, too. Not sure about the Buzz! buzzers or the guitar for Guitar Hero.
In Gran Turismo 4, you can save photos to a Flashdrive using them. Not all drives work though. Just a warning. Also, the Logitech wheels use them, and I think the lightguns do also.
The PS2 is also compatible with most USB keyboards for typing in most online games, as an alternative to selecting the letters with a controller. It is also used for this PS2 Linux Kit (wikipedia) . -Fry Edit: Most online PS2 games
You can get USB memory cards too. Handy for swapping files between PC and PS2 (Pro Evo springs to mind) - http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=PS2&title=167036 Unless you include the word "suck".
Hehe, winner. Only thing I really used mine for was the headset for SOCOM. Oh and for a USB Network thing in the days before official PS2 Online on THPS3 and 4 (I think...)
