for about the 20th time this week i got the "you need to spend less time on the computer" talk, she seems to think that i never get off here (so, what if i don't?). and the fact that she's a physiologist who helped with a report a few years back called "internet addiction" doesn't help. so now i guess she thinks i'm just waiting my life away getting girlfriends on yahoo chat rooms. no i'm learning and expanding my horizon, thank you very much! ok enough of my bitching for one night, i better go to bed soon or she'll have a hay-day.

I know this one! It bugs the crap out of me! The worst part is the fact that she spends all of her free time on her computer and does nothing but play crappy freeware tetris-style games! It infuriates me! One of these days I'm going to steal her computer and mod it into the desk (so she can't find it) then use it as part of a render farm. That'll show her :grr:

Well I used to get that talk when we first got a proper computer (not a BBC or anything), and it would kick in after me being on the computer for an hour.

Now.... well no one bothers no more, I think when you start using computers to make money parents think whenever your on the computer your making money ... if only that was true .... i'd be fairly wealthy.

Who in their right mind complains about girls wanting to spend time with them? Just curious. I'd rather spend time with a chick over a computer _any_ day. Even if she's nagging. Just take it out on her the night after. ;)

i get it every day with my parents..

"your on the computer too much."

"you dont get out often enough."

    "get a life!"

thats all my dad ever says, my moms cool with it.

as she thinks getting an education in computing is better than hanging about streets, fighting, doing drugs and ****.

heh, I'm married and I have this issue also :/

in my case it's playing CS until the wee hours of the morning... Generally I just get lost in the game, and don't notice how much time has passed :(

Although, I do echo Monolith's point. I appreciate getting to spend time with a really hot chick, who is also my best friend. It's easy to get lost for hours playing cards or just chill watching a movie with her too. Life could certainly be much worse :) I'm willing to take a little bitching at, every once in a while.

    later,

I used to get it alot when I was younger from my parents "Your only having 15 minutes a day, after you've done all your homework" What homework? I never had any throughout my secondary school life!! Then when I got into my GCSE years it was "Your not ever using it again till you've finished your GCSE's" There plans went rightout the window when they found out I'd chosen all IT based cources and needed contant computer access which finally made my Mum crack and let me have my own system in my room, I wasn't allowed my own TV, so this was kindof a mile stone!!

Now, I get the odd comment "you won't find girls sitting on that computer" True I won't but there isn't a woman in this land that would have me.

The other week I was told "Your spending too much money on your computer" Yeah so? My money, it's not like I smoke g out every night and come homwe drunk at 2am in the morning.

I just ignore it, in the end it's up to you how long you spend sat in front of your computer, although if I did have a rather curvacious female I'd rather be wrapped up in her than sat here.
