Ok my mate is looking to spend £600 on a lappy!

She needs it mainly for work, but said it would be nice if she could run a bit of Call of Duty and Counterstrike Source off it for when we have a gaming session.

Can someone gimme a link to a nice lappy suited to this task as I know nothing about laptops and the different proccesors.

Cheers for any help guys muchos appreciated!

For HL2 and COD2 I'd say you want at least an X600, but finding a laptop with discrete graphics for under £600 can be challenging. See if you can find an Acer 1690 series (1692WLMi, 1694WLMi). They feature the older Dothan Pentium M so should be dropping in price, and have an X700 which should cope fairly well.

Sounds fairly bargainous, is that with 64MB or 128MB of VRAM? Does make a fair difference, but the 64 will still cope well with most games

Yer that will run it at around 30/25FPS, not the dest proformance and it will drain the poor battery on that Acer yet is it a simple and portable laptop but not neccesarily a gaming laptop that is.

    Hope it helps

Friend went with a dell in the end.

Good buy, they did her a deal with 1gb of RAM, 7800GT and 80gb HD.

    Aint too bad.

For £600? Sounds like a right bargain, which model is it?
