So I just reformatted and installed Windows XP Pro with SP2, and it's being really lame...I pretty much haven't installed anything else except messenger programs, iTunes, etc...

Anyways, I can't right click in the start menu, so I can't arrange the menu items alphabetically or whatnot. It's really frustrating; it doesn't make a sound or anything, just flashes like it pops up for a split second and then disappears, and I can't get around it. I can right click in other places and it's no problem, just not in the start menu.

    Any ideas?

Have you installed the latest versions of your drivers?

Well it sounds like a theme file gone wrong. Are you using a standard theme or custom?

Custom, but changing it hasn't fixed the problem, whether I go to a different theme or just the standard one.

System restore to before you installed the themes?

Can you right click on the task bar, change the style (i.e. if you're in classic change it to the new one and vice-versa) see if it makes a difference

Yes I can, but no it doesn't make a difference.

Also, I can right click on 'All Programs' but that's it...so it's not the entire start menu, just most of it.

WOW I feel like an absolute TOOL for not finding this sooner...fixed.

Went to Start Menu Properties (right click on the start bar anywhere, clicked Properties, went to Start Menu tab, then clicked Customize --> Advanced and enabled Dragging and Dropping) and fixed it up no problem. Glad I was just blind. :D
