    Hiya guys

Just wondered if anyone had experienced a similar issue to this..

Every now and then [it seems to be when I switch application windows.. that sort of thing.. but under 100% CPU load the music still plays] I get a stutter in the sound.. as in a small sample is repeated very quickly then playback resumes.

I'm running a DFI SLI-DR motherboard and using the onboard "Karajan" sound module.

    Other specs are:
    4000+ San Diego
    2GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer
    7900GT

All at stock, so there should be no issues. I have no other quarms with the speed of the system... and this sound issue does not replicate itself when gaming. I've tried updating drivers to no avail.

Temps are around 38-40 idle and 47-49 at full load.

Any ideas? Any help much appreciated

    Rob

Have you locked the PCI Bus?

I used to get stuttering on MP3 sound in Winamp every time I put some sudden load on the system; fix was to give it a higher priority. It's under General Preferences. WFM.

I get that issue on my system pretty much constantly, on any media player I try when the system is loaded. I've switched to foobar as it seems to be the lightest player out there - a temporary fix but it's getting a passed as the general family use one soon so hopefully a reformat will cure it.

Yeah I'm using foobar2000 at the minute and still getting the issue..

As far as locking the PCI bus is concerned.. I haven't adjusted it from default.

I'll try giving it a higher priority and see what happens

It appears this was due to the nForce drivers installing their own audio management things, when audio is in fact provided by Realtek AC97.

How annoyingly simple, thanks for the help people :thumb:
