Well about the radiation glow my teachers tell me nothing can move faster than the speed of light I don't believe him. He even teaches AP physics there...

"the speed of light in that medium" the speed of light in water is less than air, so when a charged particle goes through the water at the maximum speed it can travel: the speed of light, it gives off a bluish glow.

my boss wont let me do that o_O

back to the project: blue glow... i guess u'll have to go with that, maybe enscribe TRIGA on it somewhere to denote what kind of reactor it is?

heh, took one look and thought of The Simpsons right away - now I have an image of the parking lot (where I think you have a pond) at the nuclear plant with Homer and various other workers heading home at the end of the day. That would be great (if you're a fan of the show) and would broaden the appeal of your project.

that's not a bad idea, because speaking of alpha radiation...that can be blocked by a sheet of paper and is so incredibly harmless that we do projects in school with it released at large amounts and it doesn't even meet industry standards for research radiation exposure. Beta and gamma are a whole nother ball game, but alpha aint much.

its been really hard trying to make progress on this mod, mainly because of school and studies......

this weekend i plan to take apart a "transplant case" that will provide me with the mobo tray and watnot. Then primer and paint the parts with neon green.
Im ready to begin painting the keyboard, just need to finish cleaning the keys. (over a decade of dirt and grease on them keys!!)

Coments and adivice is appreciated like always..

    and wetsandpaper...

I was trying to figure out what i was going to make the cooling towers out of when the idea hit me...

stack 2 of these pots on top of each other..

cut a little here and a bit there...

cut the bottoms of the pots...

    bamn.....nice dual cooling towers.

im gonna prime the towers and paint them laterz :D

here is the floppy faceplate which i primered. i plan on painting it green
    [IMG]

sat down a couple nights ago and started to make the final dimensions for the case. I had to be positive that all the hardware was going to fit.

so i started making a frame out of some cardboard i had laying around...

as always comments and advice are welcome :D

I NEED YOUR HELP FELLOW FORUM MEMBERS!!!!!! :D

i need a flow diagram of a PC water cooling system [including a VGA waterblock].

hopefully tomorrow i will post a sketch of where the hardware will be placed. I will need feedback on that to make sure i have the airflow right and everything else...

I havn't been posting much cause of school and everything...you know :D

anyway please if someone could get me tat diagram it would be gravy.
as always comments and tips are welcome and appreciated! :D

Sorry there hasn't been much updates but school work is really eating up time....well im not gonna complain. Any ways i sketched up these drawings...

    one for Airflow
    [IMG]

and another one for hardware layout
    [IMG]

i was thinkin i should have a 90mmfan infront of the HDD suckin air for them and a large 120mm in the middle of the back suckin out all excess air.

i was also thinking about the sides of the case. I was think to have the traditioncal radioactive sign we all know and love on the center-side (pictured below)
the symbol would be cut of of the case and frosted-acrylic lighted up with LEDs. i was thinkin of spraying words on the side with a template, what im gonna phrase im gonna spray down is another thing....

    which one sounds better?
    1) Warning: Radioactive contents under pressure
    2) Warning: Radioactive materials inside
    3) Caution: Proceed at your own risk

    anyone have anything better?

    5) Danger: Entering this facility can cause sterility proceed at own risk...

Other than that well make: HDD Intake, PSU out, RAD intake, Back Fans out. so pair them up 1-1-2-2 or 1-1-1-1 or 2-1-2-2 with some extra holes.

i googled radioactive sign, and i got a few results that i think fit the reactor:
    1. CAUTION: Radioactive materials
    2. CAUTION: Radiation Area
    3. adioactive: Contents-Uranium, Active
i think #3 is my favorite, it fits the theme well, especially if you use this sign:

    That's not correct...
A Particle can NEVER travel at the vacuum speed of light.
And the argument "but the speed of light is lower in water than in vacuum" doesn't count, as the particle has to travel faster than light relative to the medium...

the point is, the particel reaches neither max possible speed, nor vacuum light speed. It just travels faster than light can in that particular medium.

And yes, I am qualified to respond to your comment (read: I am a physicist)...

The above counts for modern conventional physics only...
there are, however, ways to let a signal travel faster than the vacuum speed of light.

BTW: If a teacher told you that nothing can travel faster than light, you might have forgotten to mention that you didn't mean the vacuum speed of light.
There are certain media that can slow down light considerably... In some media you could pass a beam of light with a car @>60MPH
