at random intervals my pc will go a lot louder, as if loaidng some massive program, but then die. the pc will stay on, but there will be nothing actually going on on the screen if you get me :S then i have to turn it off and turn it on again. it tells me its becuase of this: C:\DOCUME~1\Matt\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER74a2.dir00\Mini092006-01.dmp C:\DOCUME~1\Matt\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER74a2.dir00\sysdata.xml anyone know what to do? cheers guys
can you get those files and zip them up and email them to me please? Use my hotmail one in my profile.
errr, i dunno if i sound stupid or anything, or that you are an untrustworthy guy or anything, but is there anyway you could get onto my computer or affect it in any way by having those files? stupid question maybe
No, its just to see what files are causing the problem. The dumps list the files that were in use at the time and will tell me if you are using any drivers which are known to be bad.
You're fine. The files don't contain any personally identifiable information - just a list of modules that were loaded at the time of the crash, register dumps, and the address and name of the faulting module.
arg i cannot find the files, when trying to use search it would not let me search for them,t elling me they may be located on the network or something. i looked in temp files and the only thing there is an hp driver i dled for the printer im using, and there were millions of folders there.
make a new archive and where you get to browse for a file just type in the full filename to it. i.e. C:\DOCUME~1\Matt\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER74a2.dir00\sysdata.xml
thats because that is a shortened version of the path. The actual version would be: C:\Documents and Settings\Matt\Local Settings\Temp\WER74a2.dir00\Mini0 92006-01.dmp and C:\Documents and Settings\Matt\Local Settings\Temp\WER74a2.dir00\sysda ta.xml that should do it, although i may have expanded it incorrectly
hmm, i tried adding those files to a zip archive and it woudlnt elt me open them. if i just deleted the hp driver do u reckon that would work, i can get a cd for it off my friend? ah fear and loathing quote safe
ah so next time it happens, and i restart my pc and it says reecovered froms erious error, i create zip archive and add those files whilst that notification is still up?
Yea, I think that should be OK. I think you ran a program which cleared part of your temp files. The dumps are stored elsewhere aswell. Found it: c:\windows\minidump\ is where they are stored.
i have found this file: C:\DOCUME~1\Matt\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER74a2.dir00\Mini0 92006-01.dmp i think, shaould i delete it?
Can;t tell much from that dump, would like some more. All I can reccomend is to make sure you nVidia graphics drivers are upto date.
ah awesome. i have 2 nvidia 7800gts, where could i find a driver for these, the nvidia website? where do you think i could find some more info from? cheers
Its the only driver which I can tell may have problems. www.nvidia.com Theres driver links in most places.
