Networks wireless network radar

    a while ago i saw someone using a wireless network detecter in the form of a radar on their laptop.

    does anyone know where i could get hold of this software ??

    toshiba config free has something that looks a little bit like a radar and shows you where wireless signals are coming from that you are connected to.

    yes it think that might have been it, i have a toshiba laptop but i cannot find it on there, can i download it ??

    Dunno can you?

    To get it to work on non-Toshiba laptops, the following should do the trick..

    Install, reboot, then open regedit and find the following key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/TOSHIBA/CONFIGFREE

    Locate the "Instcheck" line on the right side of the screen and set VALUE to Satellite 5205

    After a reboot it should magically work.

    How do these work? Surely they're not showing you the direction of each Access Point your computer is picking up?

    I wouldn't have thought so, as the APs circle around the 'radar'. So unless someone's running around with a wap in their pocket or you hear a helicopter circling overhead, no. I think they get closer to the middle depending on signal strength, but that's about it. It does look groovy though.

    Alot of mates have this and it does look very Spy-esque.
