I'm a bit stuck and was hoping for some help. I'll be building a new computer for games and I can't decide what motherboard to go with, I don't know if I want to go with an ATX or microATX either. I have it narrowed down to the Intel D975XBX2 and the Intel DG965OT. Will there be that much performance difference if I use the same components in each motherboard?
not intel dude. they cannot overclock. i vote p5b deluxe or a 680i chipset. edit: it seems that i overlook that the mobo is badaxe. the badaxe is very good. It surprisingly is also a pretty good overclocker. i think that out of te two, the badaxe is better. Also you have choice of sli (hacked drivers) or crossfire http://www.legitreviews.com/article/395/4/
Welcome to the forums Tom I like the look and features of the 'Bad Axe 2' (BX2) meself... but it only supports (ATI's) Crossfire - not (Nvidia's) SLi... so if you plan on using SLi at some point... forget that particular mobo, and go for one or other of the alternative suggestions proffered
for chips older that 7950(as far as i know), 975 does support sli, technically all sli needs is 2 pci express slots and the only thing hindering is the driver. so, to get sli working on 7900 gtx or less, all u need are modded drivers take. also sli works on p5b delux. however, 16x and 4x(i think correct if wrong) http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=112730 sli works on 975 chipset 8x, 8x http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=113633&page=4 for best sli thought go 680i, 16x and 16x srtiker http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131074 evga http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813188009 if u dont life in us, then i dont know any dealers. maby scan is uk
