    Hi

I have two machines one used as a storage server (but maybe used for films etc)

I have heard that you can attach the mouse and keyboard to a "switcher box" and then flick a switch so that the keyboard and mouse start fuctioning for the other machine.

The monitor isnt a problem, as it has a vga and dvi in, so i can hit a button to flick between them, any ideas

    :)

You're looking for a KM switch (or KVM, if you switch the video too)

Try this out, no need to buy anything only requirment is to have your machines networked, one of the best free programs i've used in years..

Best bit about it you can have one Comps desktop in the taskbar of the other, no switches to flip

I have gone thru a couple of KVM switches, and never been happy, but just picked up an IOGear GCS102. It works really well and does USB.

It does not however do sound.

VNC'ing is a good solution for things like storage-boxes where you don't really want to do anything long-term on them, just a bit of file shuffling etc, but not great for a workstation you need to use. KVM's are pretty good though, you can get some really very cheap 2-port ones these days too. :D
