I got one last Christmas, and last night, got the 3 red lights, tried the obviously, tried booting at random times to try and trick the little bugger and turned it on its side etc and nothing! Called their customer support (and no offense, but the Indian women, I could barely understand) said it was still in warranty and I don't need to pay anything to get it repaired! Who needs an XBOX for Christmas anyway when I'm having a Wii :thumb:

Good job it went down when it did. The failure rate on these things is shocking. I might sell mine on ebay and put the money towards a new one to get another 12 months warranty. I've already had to send mine away once.

oh and it hasn't had a look in since 8th december :D

Jamie (dev for Bit/TR) had his fail the other day and our Bit/TR one also failed this week.

I'm getting worried for mine, it's out of warrenty (as in, I flashed it). My original Xbox still works fine though.

Can't you flash it back if the console dies?

never tried, im sure you could steam it off, but then the xbox wouldn't like the steam too much either...

Well as long as you don't leave it on while you steam, no worries... :p

People get far too paranoid about water around electronics.

Yeah, probably as much as I get paranoid around police, even though I haven't done anything, recently........

I sent my first 360 back shortly after getting one of the release boxes, and the one I have now has worked fine ever since. I invested in the 2 year extended warranty from Best buy though so I imagine it will go BOOM the day after that warranty goes out. Its good though that Microsoft stepped up and extended the initial 360 warranty from 90 days to 1 year though.

It is and lucky for me that my console was still inside the warranty! I'd assume it was from when it was bought though and it must have been just outside it as it was a week or so before Christmas when my mum received it.

    Recently !!

As for the steaming option just think about the call you would have to make to the tech support line for the xbox.

You : my xbox isn't working

    Tech Support : why not

    You : its water logged

    stunned silence

    Tech Support : how...?

You : i was playing dead or alive xtreme 2

    Tech Support : and

You : I thought it would be more realistic if I sat in the bath when I played it

Has to beat saying I was steaming your security seal from my console and it broke :)

My Xbox 360 broke, and I had taken the security seal off. So I rang them and they picked it up the same day, and two days later a new one arrived! Kudos so the customer support service!

You get a two year mandatory warranty on electronic goods in the UK, although the manufacturers keep it quiet, and you can argue the point that it should work for five years. [linky]
