Looks good to me, but why the E6600? Why not get an E6300? Also, I'd be interested to know what power supply you have? EDIT: It might be a better choice to go with 2GB instead of 1 with Vista et al coming up.
Rosewill RP550V2-D-SL 550W SLI Ready-ATX 12V V2.01 Power Supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16817182030 i had to go sheap somewhere. why is the E6300 better?
I think 2GB of ram would be better than getting a E6600, it does depend on what you plan on using the PC for? Sam
I think what the guys are getting at is you can overclock the e6300 to the e6600 without even breaking a sweat, something that complete novices such as myself could achieve. The money saved would be better spent on more ram, I have got an e6400 and 2gb of ram in my mums computer and it flies with xp on it.
The e6600 has a larger cache IIRC. So in the future it may be a lot more useful. When programs get round to using the ruddy thing!
ur rite the bigger cache may help in the future but then a whole load of things will change and core 2 duo will be old news agree with the others get e6300 1.86ghz and overclock if u reli want all that 2.4ghz of power itll be cheaper and u can save that other money for getting more RAM cos that will be needed in the future its also said that get more ram than you actually need because u wait and it will really be needed as tech changes hope this helps
if you can afford the e6600 and another gig of ram, id get it...ifnot, drop to the e6300...the e6300 isnt better, just overclocks like a fiend...good mobo choice...id also plunk down for a different psu, like the corsair 520hx...then take that psu out that comes with the case and sell it on ebay...lol
Even if you don't bother with overclocking, a 6300 with two gigs of ram will out-game a 6600 with one gig. You wll feel the lack of memory a lot more than the lack of clock speed.
NO to that psu. Just say no. Friends don't let friends, or enemies, buy rosewill. buy.com has the corsair hx 520 for cheap, as does zipzoomfly.com.
I don't trust rosewill. Their RP500w seems to be OK according to Madmat at jG, but I'm not sure about the 550. Buyer beware. As for me not being here so much, my asus (anus) a8n blew a vreg and took out 2 400gb drives.
