Scratch Build – In Progress Project: Unbreakable :New WaterCooling :D

This is gonne be my new Project, its called Unbreakable a casecon witch is gonna look like a blackbox olso known as a flight data recorder. The idea came of a album cover from Rammstein

I realy like the orange with the white stripes, so i thought this will be my next project.

An example of an flight recorder.


This how the frame will look like.


Buying the nessesery materials.


Drilling out the holes becaus the holes aren't perfectly round.


Making the alu tubes on size with the mill at school.


Its comming to gether.


Its going to be a long case.


The frame is ready, its pretty large.


The mobotray from an old pc.


A sheet of steel 2mm thick.


Cutting out the corners so they would fit in the frame.


It fits .


Making it fit for the mobotray.

The PSU will be hanging in the case.


The fan hole is made.

 

Another pice of sheetsteel 1 mm thick


Thera will be 3 120mm fans sucking up the air into the case.


Fanhole is done.


No its not an refrigerator, the case wil be sitting on the ground with the 3 fans towards the ground.


Like this, only a bit of the ground so it can suck air.

This is will be the HHD bay.


It is made for 2 HDD with rubber mounts.


Done, i only have to drill the hols for the rubber blocks

 

pretty nice work so far, everything is so clean and sharp will be fun to see how it will turn out in the end.

Do you plan on using a filter with those fans? If not, you're going to have a lot of excess dust in your case with it being on the ground and all.

 

Man that thing is huge! What else do you plan on storing in it?

 

I dont know yet depens. If those filters are restricing the airflow a lot I wont use them but probbely I will.

 

why is it so big? this would be really cool for a server case or something, i just dont really understand why it is so huge

 

Pretty twisted shape, and I like it! When I some time ago thought about case shapes that aren't yet used too much, that was one of them The only problem is that there's no way you could have deep enought table for a case like that.

this indeed a problem, will see at the end now its no problem but in my new house i dont know.

Becaus this is the right scale, a flight recorder is mutch smaller but that won't fit a ATX mobo in it, so i scaled it up.

 

Nice work so far DeKemp, Why did you decide to build the frame with the brackets when you could have easily used that mill at school to drill and tap the holes out on the bar stock and bolted the pieces together? Just a thought, love the idea of the flight box...keep posting

interesting start, I'm curious to see more.

 

I wont be a Rammstein mod, I have the only have the picter of the album beacaus its the idea.

 

The holes are drilled and it fits.

Mark my words, there will be a rammstein mod, by me, before the end of the year. Expect it to be based on a particular track from Reise, Reise.

 

Holy Dooly thats a huge case. Totoal respect though, I always admire people who scratch build cases.

After allmost a month of sillence I am back .

I have made a Optical bay but i dont have photos of the build only the result.

This time I have started the making of the frontpannel.


Jigsawing the place where the drives are gonna be.
