I really like the set up you've got there. Did you get the projector from Richersounds? Saw they where selling them for decent prices at Christmas there.

I built a home ciname comprised for Marantz and monitor audio stuff, but gave up when I couldnt afford the projector and since then even I've had to sell my 27in smasung lcd, so it's back to the 15in portable :waah:

Yes I got it from RS but I got them to price beat an online store which was over £100 cheaper. They will do that if the other shop has the model with the screen in stock.

I had to go LCD as I suffer very badly from RBE (Rainbow effects) I have even demoed some silly expencive DLP units 5-6 times the price of my projector they still effected me with the flashing!

I drop the ajustable iris down a bit to get a bit nicer black levels, I am very pleased with the picture!

I should be able to snap a few more pics.

    nice setup,

i especially like the dolby badge beside the screen. Some things i would change. Give your walls a coat of paint they look kind of gungy. I alsolike your imrpove centre stand, it looks like you used a small dresser :)

Well, nice one for getting it cheaper! I'd heard some great reports from people about that projector. I was temped to go for the INFOCUS N72 cos it was so cheap and a DLP. Would the rainbow effect be because you noticed it, or because the projector was so bad. I've heard mixed reviews about DLP's, but I can't make my mind up.

Would love to see some pic's of your system in action. You've got a seriosly good setup there!

the projector i use is also a LCD based one and i love it. If you get a lcd one that has a high enough resolution you don't really notice the screen door effect.

The Dolby is my protoype I did in MS Word with a little help from the Dolby specs, I was going to do a back lit 3 way LED system but the plain A4 stayed :hehe:

Yes very much I regret not painting my walls a dark matt purple or red as it would mean less reflection on the screen :duh: oh well one day....

A sharp eye will notice I am using a pull down screen but in reverse!

My front wall is plaster board and as I could not find baton or brick to drill into I did not trust a few kilo of screen haing off it!

You need to view a DLP yourself to be sure some people have no issues at all, other people it drives them mad!

The whole thing really is awesome! I just watched the Star Wars remasterd editions, the Star Destroyers and battles were :eeek:

so true, If you do paint it i would suggest a matt black though instead of purple or red.

    1. black hides dirt better so you don't have to celan your walls that often
    2. black will also reflect nolight, especially a matt black.

some other movies to try are The Matrix Lobby Scene and the Explosion scene from chain reaction is also impressive

I too have trouble with DLP projectors, though if you sit farther back the effect is lessened dramtically. However it doesn't look like you have enough room to do that, so no worries.

I also have high-res pngs for several wall plaques if you are interested.

EDIT: actually they are tifs, each 60MB, but all zipped together equal roughly 14MB. I have Dolby Digital and Lucas THX as plaques, and DTS and another different THX in a poster type format.

There's a "post your home cinema" thread, but it's quite old. I reckon we should start this into another one.
