The YS Tech 120X38mm spec is 125CFM@45db. BUt, honestly they do not seem that loud (to me). I have yet to try them with an rheobus, but I will be using one for this project. Get yourself a few Foz, I think you will like them as much as I do..

@azazel: the window will only bridge the gap between rotor and clutch cover, it will not extend to the pair of blow-holes. The window will be very small, the area measures about 4" X 1 3/4"..

Sounds sweet. 45db isn't exactly bad at full speed either. Have you ever used panflo's? I can get a fex for about $20 less than the YS-Tech's

p.s. Sorry for getting off topic. Love the case. I wish I could take pictures half as good as you do.

Panaflo fans are very good, but none move as much air as the YS-Tech.
The only model I know of (120 X38mm) that is close is the H1A high-speed.
It measures 104cfm@41db.. Panaflo is known for quite fans, what they do is run the fans at a lower RMP. The above H1A is 2500rpm and the YS-Tech is 2800rmp. Most other 120mm Panaflo's spin@2000rmp (or less)..

As for the pictures, thanks.. That is another hobby of mine, so I get lots of practice. I shoot perhaps 3000 pictures a month. I enjoy shooting micro-shots of everyday things, so that translates well to pictures of computer parts. Taking cool pictures is all about camera-angle, framing and lighting, as well as your minds-eye. (IMO) photography is a ture art form. A photo of an MT beer bottle can become art if it's shot in an interesting-way..
MT'ing beer bottles, another one of my hobbies! :hehe:
Back to fans, the Panaflo's are very good, but (IMHO) the 120X38mm YS-Tech is sovereign, none better.. 125cfm is a lot of air (moved) from a single fan and (as you said) 45db is not bad..

@ rigor: Yep, more EK WaterBlocks. Chipset and mosfet stuff. My plan is to H20 cool everything possible for this machine!

Sounds like you know your stuff about camera's and photography. I agree it is an artform. I've seen a picture of a waterfall that was so realistic I thought I could reach out and touch it. But I also think that the art is starting to become more about photoshop skills than anything else. At least people can still tell the difference which means there is still a life in photography but I would guess that a person like you would share my sympathy in the matter.

On a side note do you attend any lans? I would love to meet you so we could talk about this modding obsession that consumes both of us and perhaps you could give me a few pointers on how to capture my work in a more telling way.

Agreed, Adobe Photoshop was designed to help, not to replace shooting cool photo's in the first place. Don't get me wrong, Photoshop ( I use CS2, CS3 soon) is the best piece of software I own, and worth every-penny of the asking price.. But used as a tool to polish your photos not to "fix" or "make" them..
Lans, sorry to say very seldom. (2) in the last (5) years, not that I don't enjoy the stuff. It's just a matter of real-world-stuff occupying the bulk of my time.. Hell, that is the reason it takes me a year + to do one of these projects..

Haven't been doing any posting but have really enjoyed your thread. Really like your work. Good to see Indian Larry fan, was great guy, is much missed. Fan set up is slick looking and love the attention to detail.
Was going to up load a couple more photos to Imageshack this morning and finally get my Lian Li thread started but spent too much time on your thread. I think it was time well spent. Look forward to more on your project.

    Side Panel Window -mid-

    Thanks DR..
    here we go:
Started drilling-holes (lots of holes) for what will become the machines side panel window:
    clutch cover
    [IMG]
    dual 100mm blow holes:
    used a 4" (big-ass) holesaw for these..
by the way, always use a center-punch before drilling your holes.
NO drill-press in my SlaughterHouse-- that little CP is an essential tool to drill holes precisely where I want them!
Let's move on.. 2" holesaw for the center-section of the IL rotor:
and (5) 5/16" bolts holes to mount the rotor to the side panel:
There are lots more holes to drill.. The (10) question-marks and (10) iron-crosses under them.. BUT, I wanted to bolt the rotor in place and double-check the (?) location I mapped out last-week..
AND ITS A GOOD THING I DID............................ :duh: .............................................
LOOK AT THOSE QUESTION MARKS, THEY ARE BACKWARDS!!
Somehow, I mapped out those ? backwards. I say (blame) beer, but this is proof it's best to double-check stuff like this!!
SEE, take your time Guys!! If I would have drilled ONE-MORE-HOLE I would have had to start all over again (with a new $50US side panel)..
    Slow and Steady!
No harm-done and the clutch cover fits great:

    the rotor mounted correctly:
I need to (re)map out those question-marks, and drill the (20) holes needed
    [IMG]
Shorten :dremel: those (5) mounting bolts--- I hate cutting bolts :grr:
and cut (jigsaw) the little window (4"X2") between rotor and clutch plate..
lots more hours of work to GO on this side panel.. BY the way, my bathroom scale says this side panel's weight is 10lbs-- :jawdrop: --
    WE call that heavy metal!!
    more soon

Good thing you double-checked the bugger, would have been a shame to waste a good side panel :hehe:

Otherwise the side panel is looking really good and I love the innovative way and style you're using for your case windows (meaning Black Narcissus and Black Rain here).

Hopefully you'll get the question marks sorted out this weekend, can't wait to see the end result on this one :D

I'll be sure to check back here soon.

    It looks so sexy...
I'm so chocked! You, my personal idol, you don't have a drill press ? And your holes are perfect! At this point, I presume that my set of holesaw is really cheap, asap I'll buy some pro holesaw .... All my holes made with the holesaw are near oval!!!
BTW, you're totally insane, and I love you insanity!!!

HAHA, nice catch on the side panel design! I've made plenty of major mistakes just going through the motions and assuming you did everything right :wallbash:
And I was wondering how much that thing was gonna weigh with all those large metal pieces hanging off of it. Sounds like quite the hefty piece, does it still stay rigid or is there wobbling/bending of any kind? I guess that big question mark one in the middle probably helps strengthen the whole thing.

Nice work though, this is definitely one very unique mod!!! :dremel:

    Side Panel Window -mid2-

Exactly right Beast, and I am glad you like the project.
I got in another few hours of work in today. First off, map out all those ? again. Then drill:
    lots of drilling:
also cut (jigsaw) the window we spoke about:
there will be an "inner and outer" window (same method I used on Black Narcissus)..
The window is "back-cut" what I mean is the two edges (left and right) extend about 5mm beyond (under) both the rotor and clutch cover. The top and bottom edges will get the c-strip treatment..
There is still quite a bit of work still needed. Starting with filing-smooth all the edges of the holes-drilled. I have a new set of files for that job:
    I love new tools!
A problem with the new generation of LL case(s) is there use of sound-proofing-stuff on the side panels:
sorry to say it did not stand up well to all that drilling:
It needs to be removed, which is a (sticky) pain.. :wallbash:
Lastly, I bolted the IL rotor in place to check my placement on the holes-drilled:
They all line up very well, just need a tweek
    [IMG]
    it needs a little :dremel:
Thats it for this weekend.. More Soon..
    PS:
some pictures of the EkWaterBlocks NB and MOSFET blocks I spoke of:

I am a big fan of eddie's work
    [IMG]
    sexy-stuff..

why did you cut all of those little windows out when you could have just cut one large one slightly smaller than the diameter of both discs? anyway, awesome work man, it looks amazing!
